CCTV conducted interview of Xi’an Food Waste Treatment Project---WELLE supports Xi’an to overcome landfills capacity shortage
Release Date:2019-07-17 Views:184

Recently CCTV Economic Channel conducted an interview of the severe situation of the traditional landfills in Xi’an. The seven landfills mentioned in the interview almost reach their peak capacity and more efficient and environment-friendly methods are in urgent need for the treatment of garbage. The development of food waste treatment technology provides a new idea for the disposal of waste.

Current Xi’an food waste treatment project mentioned in the interview is contracted and operated by Xi'an WELLE Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. WELLE has developed its food waste treatment technology, an efficient anaerobic digestion treatment technology based on automatic separation and stock heating, suitable for Chinese food wastes with complex components as well as high grease and moisture shares. Through treatment, the food waste will form organic slurry, crude oil, organic slag, solid phase residue. The organic slurry produces biogas through anaerobic digestion, which can be used for cogeneration or made into compressed natural gas for sales. Crude oil purity >97% can be used as industrial  biodiesel. High quality solid organic slag can be used in aquaculture. Other solid slag can be treated by landfill or incineration. By virtue of this technology, we can realize the reduction and resource utilization of food waste which will help to release the pressure for the traditional landfills. WELLE also possesses a monitoring system which can track the status of the garbage collection, transfer and disposal in real time.

The daily treatment of this food waste project is about 210 tons with a maximum capacity of 257.3 tons. The proposal of expansion project has been approved and the daily capacity will reach 400 tons in the future. WELLE will keep contributing advanced technology to provide integrated solutions for food waste disposal in Xi'an and supports Xi'an to overcome shortage of waste treatment capacity.

The staff of Xi'an food waste treatment project also mentioned that currently the garbage is not classified very well. Every day, there are about ten tons of plastic and iron wastes sorted out from the food wastes, which are harmful to anaerobic digestion system. If the garbage is sorted well at the beginning, the food waste treatment will be much easier and more efficiently.
